Welcome to Art 1: 2D (click here to view syllabus)
Art 1: 2D is open to students in any grade level. |
Students in this course work independently or in small groups to complete 4 self-paced units. Units of study focus on thinking and behaving like an artist. Students are encouraged to use a wide variety of materials and cover a range of subject matter. While technical artistic skills are practiced and required in this course, emphasis is put on problem solving, exploring and showing growth.
After completing the 4 required units students will create their own goals and learning outcomes. Students will make their own choices in their learning and be expected to track their own progress, reflect daily and present their work to others. |
Daily Schedule
|
Warm-Up (5-15 minutes): Just like in sports, it is important to warm up for thinking and creating. Each day students will complete a daily doodle. This should be done independently as students enter the classroom. The prompt will be on the white board. Thought and effort are expected and required.
Bootcamp Day - Ms. Booth will demonstrate a new material or technique. Students will practice it. Studio Day - Due to short schedules, there will be no Bootcamps on "special schedule" days! Studio Time (60 minutes): Students will have AT LEAST an hour each block to work on independent artwork and activities related to Art 1: 2D units. During this time students are expected to be exploring, researching, brainstorming, creating, and refining artwork. You may also use this time to work on your digital portfolio. |
